ANALOGICA is an annual festival and a platform based in Bolzano, South Tyrol, Italy, dedicated to the investigation and dissemination of analog practices in visual and sonic experiments. A place of encounter and exchange for a community of filmmakers, artists, and everyone who wants to explore the creative possibilities of analog film.

ANALOGICA 16 accepts only films completed after December 31, 2020; films shot in super8, normal8, 16mm or found footage (film).
Participation Guidelines
1. Eligibility Requirements
1.1. The call is open to experimental and documentary films made primarily on celluloid (Super 8, 16mm, 35mm, or other film formats).
1.2. Works combining film and digital techniques are accepted, provided that the analog component remains substantial in the creative or production process.
1.3. Found footage films are accepted, including works based on archival materials, home movies, orphan films, or reworkings of existing films.
1.4. The maximum length is 25 minutes, including credits.
1.5. Production year: eligible films must have been completed within the last 5 years from the opening date of the call.
1.6. There are no restrictions regarding country of origin.
2. Submission Guidelines
2.1. Films must be submitted via an online

- Technical sheet
- Short synopsis (max. 800 characters)
- Author/Director bio (max. 500 characters)
- 2–3 stills from the film (JPEG, preferably 300 dpi)
- Indication of the original shooting format
2.3. Submission fee: a very low fee is required to keep participation accessible to all.
This fee helps support the activities of the festival; we sincerely thank all those who, with their contribution, make each edition possible.
3. Screening Format
3.1. It is not necessary to send a film print for the screening.
3.2. Selected films will be screened from a digital file.
3.3. Minimum technical requirements:
- .mp4 or .mov file
- H.264 / ProRes 422 codec
- Minimum resolution 1080p
- Stereo audio
3.4. Screening from a film print may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
4. Selection
4.1. Selection is carried out by the festival’s curatorial team.
4.2. Results will be communicated by 30 July 2026.
4.3. The committee may place the film in a different section if considered appropriate.
5. Festival Frameworks
5.1. Analogica is a non-competitive festival.
There are no awards or rankings: all selected films hold equal value, representing the curatorial vision of the year.
5.2. As an entirely independent festival, Analogica cannot guarantee a screening fee.
The mission of the festival is to support and disseminate film-based works, promote artists working on celluloid, and nurture a network of exchange and collaboration.
5.3. Screenings of the Analogica Selection program are free admission, reflecting the festival’s commitment to cultural accessibility.
6. Rights and Use of Materials
6.1. Authors declare that they hold all necessary rights for the materials used in their work.
6.2. Selected films may be screened during the festival and at official collateral events, with prior notice.
6.3. The author authorizes the use of short excerpts (max. 30 seconds) and stills for promotional purposes.
7. Archiving
7.1. The digital screening copy may be stored in the Analogica Archive for internal consultation only.
7.2. Authors may request removal of their file at any time.
8. Acceptance of the Guidelines
8.1. Participation implies full acceptance of these guidelines.
8.2. For any matters not covered here, decisions are made by the festival’s direction.
