Audio in the house – this Saturday @ Halle 28 Bozen

David Leimstädtner

The local collective Revoltekk is bringing a huge name in the drum and bass game to Bolzano this Saturday, the 16th: Audio. For those who don’t know the dj… let him just introduce himself:

Introduce yourself to the readers who are unfamiliar with your work!
I produce futuristic dnb under the name Audio.

You started dj-ing on illegal raves around London, something that is already mystified in the rave history, tell us about this time!
It was where I really learnt to dj, we would set up a rig powered by a generator where ever we could, then run around giving a mobile number out with instructions to call after a certain time, we used to have 150/200 people every time.

What did you listen to as a child? What were and are your biggest influences?
My mums and dads record collection was my first real influence, they would listen to anything from Abba to Frank Sinatra.

What differentiates you from other artists in the drum and bass scene?
I’m not sure to be honest, I’ve never really been bothered in watching other people or what the scene is doing, I just do what I know and always have and people seem to appreciate that instead of trying too hard.

What’s your musical background and development?
I’m just a music lover that wanted desperately to part of it, I had no musical training , I didn’t learn an instrument at school, just a real love of dnb has powered me through to this stage.

How do you see and judge drug use in the electronic music scene?
It’s been there since before I first started going out 17 years ago so it’s a part of electronic music to its core. I accept it, I’m not a fan of trying to have conversations with people who choose to do chemical drugs, but I have no problem with it.

Your studio is on fire: what would you grab with your two hands?
My laptop with the left hand, and my backup drive with the right.

How does your musical career influence your personal life?
For most people in dnb it’s a way of life, not just a genre, it determines what clothes you wear, how you speak, it runs deep with me.
What brings the future for Audio?
Pushing the studio as far as I can, and keep releasing cutting edge dnb, and trying to be the best father I can.

How do you think the drum and bass scene will change in the next 10 years?
Wow, that’s tough, I’m not sure it’s changed soo much in the last ten years, one thing I do hope is that people hold it in as much high regard as they do now.

If your music was a food, which one would it be?
It would be an Italian feast!! ; )

You will be playing in Bolzano this Saturday. Are you looking forward to it?
Love Italy, love Italy, love Italy, but seriously I always have a great time in Italy, food, people and vibe are always spot on.
